time pressures

my office is at the end of the hallway of lockers. the eighth grade homeroom door and my door create a ninety degree angle. when i am in the office i mostly leave the door open. i am not invisible when sitting at my desk but it is not easy to see me unless you "peek" into the room.
in the morning the middle school students unpack in their lockers. they talk about school assignments mostly. the subject is "did you get it done" or "is this thing happening". i have never heard them discuss content. occasionally they are just joking around. they can be a bit goofy with each other but are always careful not to say anything that will get them in trouble.
